EBENTO Partners Meet in Valencia and Close the Assembly With a Renewed Sense of Confidence
14 November 2025
“Confident.”
That single word captured the spirit with which EBENTO partners wrapped up their latest General Assembly, held yesterday at ETRA’s headquarters in Valencia, as the project approaches its conclusion in June 2026. The meeting brought together the entire consortium to exchange progress updates, resolve ongoing challenges, and outline the next steps as the project moves toward its final stage.

A significant portion of the agenda focused on the status of the demonstration activities designed to test and validate EBENTO’s One-Stop-Shop solution across diverse renovation contexts in the pilot sites. Partners presented emerging findings that underline the importance of grounding renovation decisions in hard evidence. Several pilots confirmed that presenting homeowners with objective indoor quality data, such as CO₂ concentrations, was key in shifting perspectives toward more comprehensive upgrades. Tallinn’s renovation viability calculator, along with BIM-based scenario modelling applied across all pilot sites, has proved especially effective in aligning technical recommendations with financial realities and homeowners’ expectations.
Digital tools also took centre stage as a driver of added value. In Athens, non-intrusive digital interventions demonstrated their capacity to improve energy awareness and comfort without requiring structural works. Meanwhile, in Valencia, detailed monitoring showed strong comfort improvements during the winter months following renovation, while also revealing a new challenge: overheating in summer. This finding pointed to the need for shading solutions and illustrated the importance of continuous observability in assessing long-term performance.
One of the more striking discussions emerged from the Tallinn commissioning study, which uncovered a systemic gap in quality assurance. The study showed that performance guarantees built into renovation contracts become ineffective when verification procedures fail. Partners noted that quality plans were often generic and not properly adapted or enforced in real projects.
Citizen engagement also featured prominently during the assembly. Over recent months, pilot teams have intensified activities aimed at raising awareness, strengthening user acceptance, and improving understanding of the EBENTO platform. Partners highlighted that hands-on workshops and co-creation sessions have been particularly successful, yielding better trust and usability outcomes than more traditional presentation formats. Insights gathered from residents are now informing KPI quantification and cross-pilot comparisons within impact task.
The consortium also reviewed the most recent advancements in data collection and impact assessment. Energy data from all pilot sites has now been consolidated and analysed, allowing baseline performance to be calibrated using the DSS4Ren tool. This work feeds into the economic impact assessments currently underway, which evaluate the viability and societal benefits of the renovation actions implemented. These assessments are complemented by ongoing interviews, user feedback, and qualitative analyses at local, national and European levels.
Finally, partners discussed the next wave of dissemination and exploitation activities. The coming months will see the launch of the EBENTO Talks, a series of public sessions featuring both project partners and external experts aimed at raising awareness around the project’s main themes. An open webinar will also be organised to demonstrate how the One-Stop-Shop works in practice. Several partners presented updates on forthcoming scientific publications, while the exploitation team, supported by BOOSTER initiative, continues to refine the definition of the project’s Key Exploitable Results, which will form the basis of the final exploitation strategy.
The assembly concluded with a shared sense of momentum and clarity. With just over a year remaining, partners left Valencia aligned and optimistic about the path forward, ready to steer EBENTO confidently into its final phase.
