Step by Step: Empowering Renovation Professionals through EBENTO’s Hands-On Workshop in Estonia
April 28, 2025
The path to energy-efficient homes and buildings in Europe runs through the hands of skilled professionals, and EBENTO knows it. That’s why the project is committed to engaging key stakeholders face to face, through concrete, on-the-ground actions that foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Nowhere is this more evident than in Estonia, where Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), EBENTO’s local partner and responsible for the Estonian pilot site, recently hosted a workshop under the title: “Preparing and launching the terms of reference for an apartment building renovation project.”
This in-person workshop brought together 32 professionals working across different roles in the renovation ecosystem, including apartment association managers, technical consultants, designers, and construction supervisors. The event was co-organised with the Estonian Association of Apartment Building Owners, ensuring a strong connection to the real needs of the sector.
The event had a clear objective: to equip professionals with the practical knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of preparing and commissioning renovation projects. From pilot experiences to actionable checklists and guidance on indoor climate system commissioning, participants were guided through real-life scenarios and challenges.
The methodology combined presentations with interactive group work, promoting peer learning and collaborative problem-solving. Participants shared experiences on the most pressing commissioning issues and worked together to design solutions. One key takeaway? More time should be allocated to hands-on group work in future editions, proof of its value.
The workshop also served as a platform to introduce EBENTO’s guide and checklists, tailored to support professionals in ensuring high-quality commissioning of indoor climate systems in renovated apartment buildings. In addition, the EBENTO One-Stop-Shop Platform was presented, showcasing its functionalities and potential to simplify and support every step of the renovation journey.
By the end of the day, attendees had not only learned to spot bottlenecks but also left with practical tools to overcome them. Moreover, the feedback collected during group work provided EBENTO with deeper insights into the real-world barriers that professionals face on the ground.
As EBENTO continues its mission to streamline and strengthen the energy renovation value chain, events like this workshop demonstrate the power of collaborative learning and the importance of supporting professionals with the right tools, knowledge, and partnerships.
