EBENTO Completes DSS4Ren: Advancing Energy-Efficient Building Renovations

February 24, 2025

The EBENTO Project has reached a significant milestone with the official completion of the Renovation Decision Support (DSS4Ren) component, marking a major advancement in data-driven sustainable renovations.

To demonstrate the capabilities of DSS4Ren, the team has applied the tool to one of the pilot buildings in Valencia. This powerful decision support system enables the evaluation and comparison of baseline and renovation scenarios based on key performance indicators, including:

  • Total primary energy consumption
  • Heating energy demand
  • Cooling energy demand
  • Electricity load profile
  • Peak electricity load

By integrating these insights, DSS4Ren facilitates data-driven decision-making in building renovations, ensuring optimized energy performance and sustainability.

A Step Forward in Renovation Planning

In addition to finalizing DSS4Ren, the broader OSS tool is now ready for testing at pilot sites across the project. This marks another major achievement for EBENTO, bringing enhanced capabilities to the renovation decision-making process.

The DSS4Ren simulation module, a critical component of the EBENTO One-Stop-Shop, is specifically designed to assess a building’s energy performance in both its original state and after various renovation scenarios. By leveraging advanced Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and whole-building energy simulation programs, DSS4Ren calculates essential energy and comfort Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), providing crucial insights for optimizing energy efficiency.

This achievement represents a significant step toward more sustainable and efficient building renovations. As the EBENTO Project continues to progress, these advancements will contribute to smarter, more effective energy solutions for the future.
